F\u00fcr einige Tabaksorten wird im Ernteprozess die gesamte Tabakpflanze, einschlie\u00dflich des Stiels oder der St\u00e4ngel, geerntet und anschlie\u00dfend getrocknet. Diese Art der Trocknung erlaubt den Bl\u00e4ttern weiterhin N\u00e4hrstoffe aus den anderen Pflanzenteilen aufzunehmen, was dem Tabak erlaubt, seinen nat\u00fcrlichen Zuckergehalt und andere Aromastoffe zu bewahren. Bei der Weiterverarbeitung der getrockneten Pflanzen k\u00f6nnen Pflanzen- und Blattstiele nicht vollst\u00e4ndig entfernt werden. F\u00fcr traditionelle Tabaksorten werden die Bl\u00e4tter bei der Ernte einzeln abgenommen, wobei auch hier Stiele mit in die Erntemasse \u00fcbergehen k\u00f6nnen.<\/span><br><br>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Um Tabak in Qualit\u00e4tskategorien einstufen zu k\u00f6nnen, sind die Bestimmung der Blattst\u00fcckgr\u00f6\u00dfe und die Quantifizierung des Anteils an Stielen und Blattadern von besonderer Bedeutung. Diese Analysen werden standardisiert \u00fcber Richtlinien ausgegeben von CORESTA (Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco), sowie diversen internationalen Standards, z.B. Caldwell Control Shaker), bestehend aus einem F\u00f6rderband, welches das zu pr\u00fcfende Material zu vier vibrierenden Siebebenen transportiert, die aus Drahtgewebe gem\u00e4\u00df Analysenstandard ASTM E11 bestehen und Maschenweiten von 1,0, 0,5, 0,25 und 0,0937 Zoll (25, 12,5, 6,3 und 2,36 mm) besitzen. Durch Auswiegen werden die Anteile der jeweiligen Fraktion bestimmt. \u00a0(ref. ISO 12194 &amp; CRM No. 16)<\/span><br><br>\n\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">F\u00fcr die Bestimmung des Anteils und der Art von Stielen und Blattadern greift zumeist die Methode, die in CORESTA Recommended Method (CRM) No. 17 beschrieben wird. Daf\u00fcr wird eine Tabakpartie zun\u00e4chst mittels eines geeigneten Testapparates vorbereitet (z.B. Caldwell Stem Tester). Dieser f\u00fchrt Tabak-Blattstreifen einer eingewogenen Probe \u00fcber ein F\u00f6rderband zu einem Drescher. Nach dem Dreschen wird die Probe in einem Windsichter bei definierter Str\u00f6mungsgeschwindigkeit getrennt, wobei die leichten, aderfreien Blattst\u00fccke abgetrennt werden und die schwereren Teile erneut in den Drescher gelangen. Der Siebsatz besteht aus einem speziellen Tabaksieb mit Schlitzlochung \u2013 3\/32\u201c Slotted Plate, zwei Drahtgewebesieben mit Maschenweiten von 2,8 und 1,7 mm und einer Siebpfanne. Das auf dem Schlitzlochsieb verbleibende Material wird als Stiel-Anteil klassifiziert, die Fraktionen auf den Drahtgewebesieben als faserlose Stiele, und das Material in der Siebpfanne als Stielfasern.
